Rivers and Carpe Diem

And so it begins: senior year. The culmination of an undergraduate career, and its conclusion. I sit here in this new apartment finishing summer obligations, marveling at the things to be accomplished during this year, and mournful that this, too, shall pass.

Lately I have identified with Pocahontas’s famous song.

What I love most about rivers is
you can’t step in the same river twice.
The water’s always changing, always flowing

I can’t quite say that I love that fact about rivers, but you truly cannot step into the same river twice.
And so, in the spirit of carpe diem and Lewis and Clark or Huck Finn chronicling their journey down the river, I resolve to observe, record, and absorb into my being these remaining months at this incredible and unique university.
